Traffic restrictions - Opening 08/02

02.08.2025

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN GORIZIA?

General information on the day:
Road closures strictly limited to the passage of the parade, with parking spaces maintained along the route and free blue zones throughout the city for the entire day: these are the key points of the traffic measures that will be adopted on Saturday 8 February on the occasion of the inauguration of the European Capital of Culture.
The ordinance is currently being finalised in detail by the local police, in the light of technical meetings held also with the police forces, with the aim of avoiding inconvenience and ensuring maximum safety for all.
In addition, two ordinances have introduced a ban on the use of glass and cans in the festival area and a derogation from noise limits.

Traffic and restrictions in the morning
The procession of schools, associations, folk groups and bands will start at 10 am from the beginning of Corso Italia, near Piazzale Saba. The roundabout will continue to be passable, except for the time strictly related to the gathering of participants. The operation of the bus terminal in Corso Italia will not be affected: the closure to traffic of the stretch of road in question is in fact scheduled at approximately 9 a.m., i.e. after the buses for students have already made their journeys for the start of lessons. Parking will be maintained in Corso Italia, except for the short stretch before the Verdi theatre, where the carriageway narrows. As the parade passes through corso Italia, corso Verdi and via Oberdan the roads will be reopened to vehicles, so before noon the traffic will be restored in the section of the route between piazzale Saba and piazza Vittoria.

Traffic and restrictions in the afternoon:
The same spirit will be adopted for the second part of the procession, which will start at 1.15 p.m. from piazza Vittoria to arrive at the via San Gabriele crossing at 2 p.m. Here too, the closure to traffic of via Arcivescovado, via Carducci, piazza De Amicis, via Pellico, piazza Medaglie d'oro and via San Gabriele will be limited to the passage of the colourful snake of representatives of city associations and sports clubs.

Information valid for the entire day:
- Parking and transit bans:
A parking and transit ban will be in force from the morning until the end of the event in Piazza Vittoria between the intersection with Via Mameli and Via Oberdan and Via Roma. Also for the entire day, parking will not be allowed in Piazzale Musina, in front of the PalaBrumatti, and in Piazza Cesare Battisti, reserved for the vehicles of the staff.

- Security:
To allow the various events to take place in safety, an ordinance has been issued to prohibit the administration and sale of alcohol and other beverages in glass bottles and cans, on Saturday 8 from 9.30 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Piazza Vittoria and from 9 p.m. to midnight in Piazza Transalpina, and on Sunday 9 from 11 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. in Piazza Vittoria. Exceptions will be made for fixed premises public establishments within their own area (inside the premises, counter service or within authorised and appropriately delimited ‘dehors’). Also within the initiative area, it is forbidden for everyone to introduce and consume drinks in glass bottles and cans.

- Exceptions for 8.02 and 9.03:
On the occasion of the festivities, an exemption to the noise emission limits will also be in force for musical activities and for the setting up and dismantling of event-related structures. The measure will be valid on Saturday 8 from 10am to midnight and on Sunday 9 from 5pm to 11pm. The exemption for setting up, dismantling and musical rehearsals will also be valid on the four days preceding and the four days following Saturday 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
